Serpentine is said to have been one of the stones in the breastplate used by the priests in the Old Testament. It should stimulate the divine presence in our lives and a state of heightened consciousness, an understanding above the fears of one's own personality about its survival. It should alleviate fear and doubt. It is said to have a positive effect on the kundalini energy, helping us surrender to the divine within.
