Prasiolite – the green amethyst
Prasiolite, often called green amethyst, is a rare and beautiful variety of quartz. It gets its soft green color from iron in the crystal, but because the color can fade easily, it is most often produced by heat-treating purple amethyst. Other names for the stone include prasem, vermarine, and chrysoquartz.
Within the crystal world, prasiolite is seen as a stone of balance, harmony and heart energy. It is said to calm troubled thoughts, protect against negativity and remind us to approach both ourselves and others with warmth and compassion.
