Herkimer diamond with inclusions
The Herkimer diamond is not a real diamond, but is called so because it is so clear and sparkling. It is a doubly terminated quartz with natural points at both ends.
The variants differ in size, clarity, and quality, hence the variation in price and measurements.
A mini version that is completely clear, a slightly larger version with anthraxolite inclusions, which are plant remains, fossil carbon minerals enclosed in the quartz.
Comes from the town of Herkimer north of New York, hence the name.
Size approx. 2-7 mm, approx. 0.5-1 g /pc
