Eclogite – the earth's primeval power in stone

Eclogite is an unusual and powerful rock that carries stories from the deepest layers of the Earth. It forms at depths of between 40 and 100 kilometers, where basaltic rocks are pushed down into subduction zones and transformed under enormous pressure and heat. The result is a dramatic combination of deep red garnet and green omphacite – a splendor of color that makes eclogite as beautiful as it is rare.

The stone has been found in places like Norway, the Alps, the Himalayas and Brazil, but also in Sweden, especially in Jämtland and Härjedalen. Sometimes it can carry traces of minerals like kyanite, rutile or even microscopic diamonds – little glimpses of the secret it hides from the Earth's interior.

Spiritually, eclogite is associated with the primal power of the earth. It is said to provide a strong sense of stability and grounding, as if helping us to stand firm even when life shakes. Because it is born from an extreme process of transformation, it is seen as a symbol of personal strength and transformation – a reminder that even under pressure, something new and beautiful can be born.

The garnet in eclogite is often associated with courage, vitality and willpower, while the green omphacite is considered to represent balance and healing. Together they create a harmonious force, both protective and uplifting. Many people therefore use eclogite in meditation to deepen their connection with their inner self, release old patterns and open up to new insights.
